As part of the capacity building activities within the TASTE project, a study visit was organized in Maribor from 16 to 18 September 2025. The event gathered project partners from Slovenia, Spain, Belgium, Germany, Latvia, and Italy, offering them the opportunity to experience the cultural, natural, and culinary richness of Destination Štajerska.
The programme began with expert lectures, followed by a series of inspiring local experiences, including the urbanatural pleasures of Destination Štajerska: a pumpkin seed oil tasting, a visit to the World’s Oldest Grapevine, a unique sparkling wine experience Untouched by Light, and a dinner in the city.
On the second day, the focus shifted to supply chains and logistics. At VSGT Maribor, partners were introduced to the school and its many ongoing projects, followed by lunch at the school’s own restaurant. The afternoon continued with field visits to the Municipality of Hoče–Slivnica, where innovative models such as the Pohorje Market and local product vending machines were presented. The programme then included a visit to two agritourism farms: one showcasing herbs and the “from garden to plate” concept, and another offering a hands-on bread-baking workshop. The day concluded with a traditional dinner.
The final day featured a sweet beginning with a chocolate workshop, followed by lectures. The study visit concluded at RRA Podravje – Maribor, where partners jointly defined the next steps of the TASTE project.
The event strengthened cooperation, shared new knowledge, and created valuable connections that will continue to foster sustainable food tourism development across the participating regions.
