TASTE Partners Celebrated Innovation and Sustainable Food Tourism in Torino

From 23 to 25 September 2026, partners, stakeholders and participating projects of TASTE – Transformative Approaches for Sustainable Food in Tourism gathered in Torino, Italy, for the project’s final international Showcase Day and Study Visit. Hosted by the Turin Chamber of Commerce (CCIAA Torino), the event brought together tourism organisations, SMEs, researchers and project partners to share knowledge, highlight innovative solutions and reflect on the achievements of the TASTE project.

The Showcase Day provided an opportunity to present the results of collaborative initiatives developed through the TASTE TOP Up Programme. Discussions focused on how innovation, sustainability, digital transformation and international cooperation can strengthen the competitiveness and resilience of tourism SMEs, particularly those working at the intersection of tourism and gastronomy.

The programme included expert contributions from the University of Gastronomic Sciences of Pollenzo, the presentation of the TASTE Best Practices Booklet, and the Top-Up Funding Award Ceremony, highlighting innovative approaches to sustainable food tourism. Participants also exchanged experiences during networking activities and explored practical approaches to digital communication and online food and wine marketing.

Another highlight was the launch of TASTE Quest, a gamification initiative designed to introduce new ways of engaging audiences and exploring food tourism experiences.

The event took place in the inspiring setting of Torino and the surrounding Piedmont region, internationally recognised for their rich gastronomic heritage, wine culture and strong commitment to local food traditions. The programme was closely connected to Terra Madre Salone del Gusto, the internationally renowned event celebrating sustainable food systems, biodiversity and the values of the Slow Food movement.

As part of the study visit, participants explored the region’s wine tourism traditions through a visit to the Enoteca Regionale dei Vini della Provincia di Torino in Caluso. The experience, which included a vineyard visit and regional wine tasting, offered insight into the connection between local wine production, cultural heritage and authentic visitor experiences.

The Torino Showcase Day and Study Visit marked an important milestone in the TASTE project, bringing together the knowledge, experiences and innovative approaches developed through international cooperation. By connecting tourism businesses, food producers, researchers and destination stakeholders, the event highlighted the potential of sustainable gastronomy to create distinctive tourism experiences, support local communities and contribute to a more resilient European tourism sector.
